Policy FAQs

When is proof of vaccination required?

  • Proof of vaccination is required to access the following:
    • Upstairs clubrooms, including the bar, office, and deck. 50-person capacity limit.
    • Indoor school. 40-person capacity limit, where 1 metre distance between people can be practically maintained.

When is proof of vaccination NOT required?

  • Proof of vaccination is not required and a maximum of 25 people to access the following:
    • Outdoor nets and on-field training
    • Play games
    • Changing rooms. One-team per room capacity limit.

When does this apply?

  • When Auckland is at RED traffic light under the Covid Protection Framework.
  • Our policies are reviewed when health advice, and Sport NZ / Auckland Cricket guidelines are materially updated.

Why have you made these decisions?

  • This is part of our return to play plan and response to the Covid Protection Framework.
  • Our approach has been to follow health advice, and Sport NZ / Auckland Cricket guidelines to create the safest possible environment whilst trying to maximise cricketing opportunities for all.

Is Auckland Cricket or Grafton United mandating that players and coaches need to be vaccinated?

  • No, members and volunteer coaches are not required to be vaccinated to play cricket. However, a vaccine pass is required for people who are 12 years or older for entry to the upstairs clubrooms and indoor school. Paid Grafton United coaches and staff are vaccinated.
  • Grafton United strongly encourages that all people (who are eligible) involved in community cricket are vaccinated.

Can I ask a teammate or opposition team you are playing with if they are vaccinated?

  • There will be no requirement for players to be vaccinated to participate in Auckland Cricket or Grafton United competitions, and players or volunteers cannot request or demand to see the vaccination status of another player or volunteer.

Who is responsible for checking vaccine passes?

  • For the indoor school, the coach, manager or member who made the booking will need to check vaccine passes upon entry. The NZ Pass Verifier app can be used to scan and verify a vaccine pass.

Do I need to check vaccine passes every time?

  • No, not if you have already checked the vaccine pass of the person recently.

Do I need to keep a record of people who I have checked their vaccine pass?

  • No, this is not required

What if someone refuses to disclose their vaccination status?

  • They are not required to give this information to play cricket, and we will respect their personal choice and right to privacy.
  • In the interests of health and safety, they will be treated as though they have not been vaccinated. As a result, they will be unable to enter the upstairs clubrooms or indoor school.

What if a teammate is unvaccinated?

  • They can still play cricket for Grafton United. However, if they are 12 years or older, they would need to be vaccinated before they can enter the upstairs clubrooms and indoor school. They are still able to train outside (subject to outdoor net bookings).
  • Grafton United strongly encourages that all people (who are eligible) involved in community cricket are vaccinated.

What if my team or our coach/manager is unwilling to be vaccinated?

  • Grafton United strongly encourages that all people (who are eligible) involved in community cricket are vaccinated.
