Waiheke Player Information

Where do we play

We practice and play on the fields in front of the Recreation Centre on Donald Bruce Road.

How much does it cost to play

  • Softball cricket: $75

  • Hardball cricket: $140

What kit do we need

Waiheke Junior Cricket provides a branded shirt on loan for the season and a cap to keep. On Saturday's please wear the supplied shirt and cap with your own black shorts for Y1-4. Years 5-9 also receive a pair of white trousers and vest on loan for the season. For training please wear casual sports clothes. All equipment is supplied.

Practices

We practice on Wednesday afternoons from 4-5 pm. Please wear casual sports clothes for training including a cap and make sure your child brings a named water bottle.

On what days are games usually played

Saturday mornings - a prompt 9.00 am start (at the same location as practice) for Y1 - 4 for approximately 2 hours. Y5-9 also play Saturday mornings and will participate in the Eastern District Competition. Every second game will be played at Victoria Park. The approximate game time will be from 10 am - 1 pm. Travel costs for a coach and manager will be funded for each game and we have also negotiated a discount for player travel. We estimate there will be approximately 8 away games.

Is there an opportunity for people to be parent coaches

The success of WJC cricket is reliant on parent help, especially coaching for an hour on Wednesdays. On a Saturday we also need parent helpers to manage the batting order, umpire and score. Parent volunteers must be police vetted by NZC and coaches must complete the free online Foundation or Advanced Foundation course. Please contact the Grafton office for more information regarding coaching courses and police vetting.
