We practice on Wednesday afternoons from 4-5pm. Please wear casual sports clothes for training including a cap and make sure your child brings a named water bottle.
On what days are games usually played?
Saturday mornings - a prompt 9.00am start (at the same location as practice) for Y1 - 4 for approximately 2 hours. Y5-9 also play Saturday mornings and will participate in the Eastern District Competition. Every second game will be played at Victoria Park. Approximate game time will be from 10am - 1pm. Travel costs for a coach and manager will be funded for each game and we have also negotiated a discount for player travel. We estimate there will be approximately 8 away games.
Is there an opportunity for people to be parent coaches?
The success of WJC cricket is reliant on parent help, especially coaching for an hour on Wednesdays. On a Saturday we also need parent helpers to manage the batting order, umpire and score. Parent volunteers must be police vetted by NZC and coaches must complete the free online Foundation or Advanced Foundation course. Please contact the Grafton office for more information regarding coaching courses and police vetting.
