Waiheke - travelling team info

TRAVELLING TO WAIHEKE

Ferry

Catch the 8:00 AM Fullers ferry to Waiheke from the Downtown Ferry Terminal (map). We have negotiated a special deal with Fullers, $22.10 for a Child Same Day Return ticket with 2 adults (coach and assistant or manager or ...) travelling free with the team. Additional adults and children travelling with the team are at normal prices.

Booking & Collecting Tickets

Team numbers need to be confirmed and communicated to the manager of the WJC team by Wednesday evening. WJC books the tickets and advises a booking number that the coach/manager of the visiting team quotes to the Fullers Ticket office downtown when the tickets are collected and paid for in full in one payment.

Please note the discounted tickets are only valid if travelling as a group. If you intend on staying on after the game and making a day of it on Waiheke, you need to return together on the same sailing to Auckland. If you intend on travelling home separately from the team you need to purchase your tickets separately from the team booking.

Parking

We recommend parking in the Downtown Parking Building, entry off Customs Street West, the current rates (October 2023) are $2 per hour to a maximum of $15 per day on the weekend. More information and up-to-date pricing are available on the AT website.

Waiheke Transport

Upon arrival to Waiheke WJC parents will collect your team including up to 1 adult per player. If you have a high number of additional adults travelling there is also a bus service that meets each ferry and a stop approximately a three-minute walk from the ground.

Games start between 9.30 and 9.45 am

WAIHEKE JUNIOR CRICKET FACILITIES

At the ground WJC have a gazebo set up for you to provide shade/shelter with a table and chairs and a chilly bin of chilled water table (taps in the pavilion are not filtered). Please encourage all kids to bring drink bottles.

You are also welcome to use the kitchen (with tea and plunger coffee available) and the deck of the pavilion to view the game. The changing rooms/toilets downstairs are presentable and functional.

HOSPITALITY

WJC will have sausages cooked and ready for the end of the game.

TRAVELLING BACK TO AUCKLAND

WJC parents are happy to transport the same numbers back to the next ferry or at a beach on the way. We recommend making a day of it at Little Oneroa as it has everything - wood-fired pizza, fish & chips, dairy, coffee, free gas BBQ's, a lovely swimming beach and a bus stop back to the ferry.

SPECIAL THANKS TO FULLERS
