Cancellations

GENERAL INFORMATION

Years 2-4 Pre-Christmas at Cox's Bay Reserve

Our default call is "GAME ON" but if the weather is inclement please check-in with your coordinator and keep a watch out on our Facebook pages (decisions are normally made at 7:45)

  1. Our Facebook Group - Grafton Junior Facebook Group

  2. The Latest News section on our website - Grafton Cricket

Notes

  • Auckland Cricket is NOT responsible for cancellations for these Grades.

  • Auckland Council may close Cox's Bay Reserve and if they do we will let you know via the channels above.

If there is no mention of any cancellations then it's "GAME ON". If there is some rain or a light drizzle then please pack a coat and take an umbrella. However, during play, should the weather deteriorate to such an extent that the wicket becomes dangerous or otherwise unplayable, then, by mutual consent with the opposition team, the game should be abandoned.

Junior and Youth Grades (including all Girls grades)

Morning games - Auckland Cricket is responsible for the cancellation, including ground changes, for all grades from U10 and above, including all Girls/Women’s grades. The ground closures, ground changes and defaults for the Junior and Youth Leagues and Senior Grades will be posted on the Auckland Cricket Cancellations page.

The ACA Junior and Youth Morning Cricket Cancellation Policy is available for your perusal, this includes the process to follow for home club coaches/managers to cancel home games.

ACA Blanket Cancellations Due to Severe Weather Warnings

ACA will cancel all junior and youth morning cricket should there be an Auckland weather advisory from the Metservice advising that it is unsafe to travel to games. ACA checks for advisories constantly and will communicate through the ACA website, Facebook and email to all Club Managers.

ACA Timing

Auckland Cricket strives to get ground closures/cancellations posted as early as possible with updates starting from 7:15 AM

  • Saturday Grades:
    • Morning Grades - will be posted by 7:00 am on Saturday morning.
    • Afternoon Grades - will be posted by 10:30 am on Saturday morning.
  • Sunday T20 Grades - will be posted by 12:00 pm on Sunday.

Note: If there is no mention of your game being cancelled then it is on. However, should the weather deteriorate to such an extent during play that the wicket becomes dangerous or otherwise unplayable, then, by mutual consent with the opposition team, the game should be abandoned.

Recommendation

Check your game, the opposition and the venue on Friday night. There aren't often changes but sometimes ...

If the weather looks remotely dodgy then call out to your opponent and arrange a time to confirm the game in the morning. Saves driving to Orewa to find a flooded pitch.
